Manna, an Oxfordshire-based charity, has issued the challenge of walking the 7,726 miles from Marcham to Mozambique throughout the month of March.
The money raised will support the families fleeing violence in northern Mozambique by providing food and other essentials for survival. The challenge is a group endeavour, and currently 22 people are signed up to walk, run or cycle as many miles as possible to help reach the overall target.
Growing and thriving in mission
Based in Marcham, Manna's vision is to see,'Anglican churches in Mozambique and Angola growing and thriving in God's holistic mission. 'Generally, the parish of a priest in Mozambique and Angola could cover 40-50 Anglican communities.
These communities often struggle to access good sanitation and education.
Around half a million people (mostly women and children) in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique have fled violence, often walking days and weeks to get to safety with virtually nothing. Elizabeth Thomas, Manna's executive officer, is an active member of Marcham Church in Oxfordshire, having previously worked as their youth and children's worker.
So far, around half of the walking team are from the church.
The congregation have been fully supportive of the endeavour, encouraging members to sign up and stand in solidarity with those in Mozambique.
The group needs your help if they are going to reach their 7,726-mile target! Anyone is welcome to join and start walking, running or cycling to help the team in their challenge.
Sign up or sponsor the team online , and keep up to date with their progress throughout the month.
