The Revd Canon David Meakin RIP

Very sadly, David died on Wednesday 7 August after a short illness. He was able to spend his last days at home surrounded by family and friends and was able to preside and preach at a final Eucharist in Whitchurch on Sunday 28 July. 
 
David served as Rector of the Schorne Team of 12 rural churches in Buckingham since 2004, first as Priest-in-Charge and from 2011 as Team Rector. He was Area Dean of Claydon from 2011. Before coming to the Diocese of Oxford, he served in the Diocese of Durham including five years as Precentor of Durham Cathedral. David was active in the life of the Buckingham area and acted as precentor and liturgist for many large area services, including most recently Bishop Alan’s memorial service. He was a member of Bishop’s Council and had become a senior and respected priest in the diocese. David was made an Honorary Canon of Christ Church on 2 July.
